Infrastructure Engineer
Position Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for overseeing patch management operations, vulnerability remediation, Intune application packaging, and compliance reporting across a hybrid IT environment. This role requires expertise in Windows Server patching, workstation patching using Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and BigFix, along with the ability to integrate security vulnerability scanning tools such as Qualys, Tenable, or Rapid7.
The successful candidate will work closely with our service delivery team to ensure timely and effective patch deployments, minimize security risks, streamline application deployments, and maintain system integrity for our clients.
Job Description
Patch Deployment & Remediation:
- Execute and manage monthly patching cycles for Windows Servers and Workstations.
- Deploy security updates for common applications such as MS Office, Browsers, and SQL Server.
- Implement zero-day patching strategies to mitigate emerging threats.
- Maintain a rollback strategy for failed patches and troubleshoot related issues.
Intune Application Packaging & Deployment:
- Package, test, and deploy applications using Microsoft Intune for Windows endpoints.
- Manage application lifecycle updates, compatibility testing, and version control.
- Troubleshoot application deployment failures and resolve Intune-related issues.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless software distribution and updates.
Incident Management & Vulnerability Remediation:
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve patching-related incidents based on priority levels.
- Remediate Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) based on security assessment reports.
- Collaborate with security teams to integrate patching workflows with vulnerability scanning tools like Qualys, Tenable, or Rapid7.
Service Delivery & Compliance:
- Monitor patch compliance and generate reports using Power BI dashboards.
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including response and resolution times.
- Maintain accurate records of patching activities, configurations, and security compliance metrics.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in quarterly service reviews and recommend improvements.
- Develop and refine patching policies, automation scripts, application packaging processes, and reporting mechanisms.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, security threats, and new patching methodologies.
Required Experience
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in IT patch management, vulnerability remediation, or endpoint security.
- Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Windows 10/11 patching.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and BigFix.
- Strong experience with Intune application packaging, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability management tools (Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7, or similar).
- Experience with Power BI dashboards and patch compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with change management and ITIL frameworks.
- Ability to troubleshoot patching and application deployment failures and deploy remediation strategies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent), ITIL, or CISSP.
- Experience working in Managed Services or enterprise IT environments.
- Knowledge of Azure security and cloud patching best practices.
